Sending, forwarding, and replying to messages
Using Messages, you can send messages to other site participants, and reply to messages sent by other participants. These Messages are stored in bSpace and also sent as an email.

Sending a Message
You have the ability to send messages to different roles in your site, individual recipients, and selections of individuals based on groups and sections that have been added to your site.
- In your site's menubar, click
Messages.
- On the Messages screen, or while viewing the contents of a Messages folder, click
Compose Message.
- Add Recipients for this Message:
to "Quick Picks"
To compose and send a message to different roles in your site:
- Below the "To" field, select the link that represent a type of users you want to send a Message to (example: "Add all Participants). You can also choose to send your message to multiple types of users.
to Individuals
To compose and send a message to individuals or selections of individuals:
Below the "To" field, select "Add Individuals".
Filter Site Members By Name: Begin typing the person's name until they appear in the Site Participants listing.
Filter Site Members in Group/Section: Select the Group or Section for the participant from the dropdown list "in Group/Section"
Filter Site Members by Role: Select the role for the participant from the dropdown list "of role"
to Groups/Sections
To compose and send a message to whole groups or sections:
- Below the "To" field, select "Add Individuals".
- Select the Group or Section from the dropdown list "in Group/Section"
- Select "Add all" from Site Participants list
ATTENTION: Messages requires Section Info to be added and setup in your site to take advantage of filtering by Section. See Create & Manage Sections Automatically for more information.
- Click Update Recipients.
- Under "Label", use the drop-down list to change the priority status for your message.
- Next to "Subject", type the subject of your message. *REQUIRED
- Under "Message", use the WYSIWYG editor to compose your message.
- Under "Attachments", you can attach a file from your local computer or from Resources, or specify the URL for a file on the web. For instructions, see Options for adding attachments.
- When you're finished, click
Send to send your message, or Cancel to cancel your message.

Forwarding a message
To forward a message to another recipient:
- In your site's menubar, click
Messages.
- On the Messages screen, click
Received to view the messages you've received.
- Find and click the message you wish to forward.
- Click
Forward.
- The text of the original message is included in the WYSIWYG editor. To edit and send the forwarded message, follow steps 3 through 9 in Sending a message above.

Replying to a message
To reply to a message someone sent to you:
- In your site's menubar, click
Messages.
- On the Messages screen, click
Received to view the messages you've received.
- Find and click the message to which you're replying.
- Click
Reply.
- To compose and send your reply, follow steps 3 through 9 in Sending a message above.
