Known Issues

Updates to bSpace at the end of February, 2009 seem to have helped improve performance of the Gradebook for sites as large as 700 students.  Sites with over 1,000 students are still experiencing delays as long as 1-2 minutes.  Refer to our How-To guide to learn how to import grades directly to bSpace: Enter or Update Grades Using a Spreadsheet

In larger sites we recommend using other bSpace tools to accomplish similar activities:

Uploading Student Assignments: see Assignments Tool
Sharing Student Work: see Forums Tool
Collaborative Writing: see Wiki Tool

If you do not see New in the Worksite Setup main screen, please contact us. Undergraduates should not have the ability to create a bSpace site.

One way around this issue is to create content in a plain text document rather than Word, paste into your text box, and then use the bSpace text editor to apply formatting. If you want a print ready syllabus attach it as a PDF in the Syllabus tool.

Due to reports regarding undelivered messages from the Mailtool, we recommend that instructors avoid using the Mailtool for mission critical email correspondence until further notice. While we investigate issues with the Mailtool, we recommend the following bSpace email communications:

to Individual Participants

In the Roster tool, Instructors & GSIs can click on a student's email address to open a new email message in their computer's mail program.

to All Participants

Option 1: Announcements that are posted to bSpace sites can also be sent as email notifications.  These announcements will be sent to all site participants via email and will also appear on the home page of the bSpace site. Announcements Instructions

Option 2: The Email Archive is another tool in bSpace that Instructors and GSIs can use to send email messages to all site participants.  When Instructors and GSIs send a message to the site's email address, it is sent to all site participants and a copy is stored in the site's Email Archive. Email Archive Instructions

to Groups or Sections

By setting up Groups or Sections in a bSpace site, Instructors and GSIs can post Announcements to a sub-set of site participants.  These announcements can be sent as email notifications. Sections and Groups Instructions
